Dolly Parton - He's Gonna Marry Me
If your dad is anywhere close to southern he has a deep rooted love for country music, mostly bluegrass. You have probably logged hours watching The Grand Ole Opry or Hee Haw. Maybe even sat around a radio in rocking chairs. I remember watching Dolly on TV or listening to her on the radio in the evenings.
Recently E! has been playing Sweet Home Alabama as one of their favorite movies - Dolly's He's Gonna Marry Me is part of the wedding clip and every time I hear this song it brings back memories.
This compelled me to spend hours clicking on clips YouTube suggests. Does everyone remember Jolene? 9 to 5? Islands in the Stream? Why'd you come in here (will NEVER forget this music video - I so loved her jean jackets)?
Then before you know it you are buying songs on Itunes from Kenny Rogers, Patsy Cline, Tanya Tucker, John Denver, Reba McEntire (Does he love you, Fancy - great videos too!), .... Two hours later I seem to be able to map my childhood.
And it all started with a Dolly song I hadn't heard in a long time.
